

May we visit and sightsee the airport and the aircrafts?
Yes. Dolna Banya airport is a private property with limited access and
24-hrs security watch. However, considering the main activities of the
airfield all visitors who want to get acquainted will be welcomed.
How much time does it take for PPL /SA/ course?
It all depends on you, your free time and ambitions and of course on
meteo conditions. The normal duration at a standard workload in convenient
for you time is apr. 2 months.
Is it possible to fly in winter?
In suitable MT conditions the cold winter day’s flight is something
not to be missed!
May I execute commercial activities as a non-professional pilot?
No. To execute any paid flying services you need to have a professional
pilot license /CPL/.
May I land with a private-owned or rented aircraft wherever
I want?
Yes. At your responsibility it’s possible to land on an airport or airfield
chosen by you. You have to cover the requirements of the flight organization,
to declare the flight at Air Traffic Control and to get the necessary
clearance.
May I fly with a very light aircraft to Greece?
Yes. It’s enough to fulfill the following requirements: - The airplane
should be registered and equipped with a transponder; - The pilot should
have a license and a “Radio-Telephony Operator” in English qualification
class issued. This class is issued by the CAA following a theoretical
course and an examination; - Have clearance to land in corresponding
country; - Take-off from an international airport.
May I land at your airfield coming from European country?
According to the Bulgarian Legislature you must first land at an international
airport where Customs and Border /Passport/ Control are available. Afterwards
you may fly free and land wherever you want, following the submission
of a flight plan. When leaving the country same rules are valid – take-off
from an international airport..
May I fly Bulgarian registered aircraft with a foreign-issued
license?
According to Bulgarian Civil Aviation Act, to fly solo a Bulgarian registered
aircraft you need “Validation of license”, issued after you pass a theoretical
course /7 hours/ and flying practice /3 hours/. Holders of JAR-FCL license
may fly in Bulgaria without such a validation.
May I fly abroad with a pilot’s license gained and issued in
Bulgaria?
Since 2004, the Bulgarian Civil Aviation Administration is a member
of JAA /Joint Aviation Authorities in Europe/ and the licenses are valid
all-over the world. However, every Flying Club or Airport Authorities
may wish to check preliminary the skills of the pilot.
